DIY Crafts

I am a huge fan of jean products! Now that I am no longer required to wear business casual attire for five days out of the week, I am usually found wearing either a pair of jeans, jean shorts, a jean skirt, a jean vest or a jean jacket. My fondness for “all things jean” inspired me to look up ways to make a jean purse.

I found a variety of ways to repurpose a purse out of either pants, shorts or a skirt. I chose the skirt option because I found the design more appealing. My frugal side was happy to discover that what would’ve cost me an easy $35.18 US dollars / 30 euros online ended up only costing me 10 lei which is $2.53 US dollars / 2.16 euros.

1 Romanian Leu equals $0.25 in US Dollars and 0.22 in Euro

This inexpensive project was mainly possible because of two things; My friend helped me sow the bottom of the skirt with her sewing machine and I found the skirt at a thrift store. As the saying goes; “Teamwork makes the dream work!” In this case, my dream came true!

Why stop there? I had to have a matching wallet too! So… here it is…

Of course, I had to apply a flower-like crochet applique on both sides, just for a little extra pizazz. I firmly believe that this little detail made the wallet look far better than it did when it was just the plain jean.

Crochet is still a part of my hobby to-do list. During this past week, I made another pair of house slippers. This time I made them big enough to fit an adult! I am getting the hang of crocheting now, which means I no longer need to watch videos on how to crochet. I simply follow along when I get stumped and I do what I can do on my own. I find it more peaceful to work on my own, so this is a good thing.

I do enjoy making crafts, and I also enjoy the peace that comes along with this activity. Perhaps my strongest like is my ability to be still and pray while I work.

Colossians 3:23 NIV – Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Thank-you for taking the time to read my post. I hope you enjoyed it! Please let me know what you think about these crafts or what I have written here. “Feedback is your friend” is another saying that I know so I will enjoy whatever friend(s) you have for me! 😉
