This short phrase is a motivational message that still remains with me, ingrained in my psyche, now and forever more! The two simple words “You Can” are so powerful if you are trying to do things with your life.
Call it “a blast from the past”, “a flashback”, or “a fond memory”; this phrase from my middle and late adolescent years, which reminds me of basic training, keeps me going and doing things even when I think I cannot. Nowadays I do not need that Drill Sergeant yelling at me saying “do not let your feet touch the ground private!” I simply let my feet touch the ground because my pace is not what it used to be, BUT… I still go! I try to go every day, and on the days that I am not feeling up for the challenge, my internal whisperer says “You Can!”

If you want to do something, just do it! Don’t wait for that perfect moment, the right weather, or that one person that you think will be pleased with what you have done to finally show up. Sometimes, these things just do not happen all at once, and you wind up waiting longer than you should or perhaps you miss your opportunity altogether to do that very thing that you wanted to do. Always try to remember that “You Can” do it!

Instead of waiting for the unknown, or being afraid of what might happen or what others might think and / or say, set yourself up to do things with the one who will always be there for you. “God will never leave you nor forsake you!” Trust in him, and in-turn trust also in yourself, and do those things in life that you want to do.
Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV
6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Last, but definitely not least, encourage others to do the things that they can do. This is the step that will leave you feeling fulfilled because you would have made their life better because of your support. Below… See her smile when her dad shows up? Just by being there Olivia felt ready to sing in front of the crowd.
What will others do if you encourage them in the right direction? This is yet to be determined so do it and do it often!
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Christy 🙂
I used to tell my students the story of “The Little Engine that Could.” Since I taught Spanish, our class saying was “¡Sí, yo puedo!”Translates to: “Yes, I can!”

My daughter and I love that story! “I think I can… I think I can!”
It sounds really great as ” Yes, I can!” too. 😉

I like your thoughts on timing to go with “I Can.” Don’t wait for that perfect moment. On the other hand, don’t jump ahead of God. Timing is everything! 😊

Thank you for sharing this gem! I have been procrastinating on this course I signed up for and I even had to pay for an extension for completing it. I have to brush on my math, that is hold me back. A little each day will get me there! Thanks again❤ Have a blessed day!

Wonderfully uplifting post, Christy! I agree, those two words are so simple & understated, yet powerful. I’m guilty of often waiting for the ‘right’ moment, the ‘perfect time’ and need to remind myself to just do it.

Thank-you for your kind words. I am glad that you found this uplifting. I too need these kind of reminders so I write to help others (I hope) and in turn I help remind myself. Thank you once again for your appreciation because it makes me feel good about what I am writing. 🤗

It sure did and from an early age. I recommend it to any high school grad because at that age you need to be taught discipline.
