When I heard the word pirates, “The Goonies” was always on the top of my list growing up. However, ever since I became a mom, other films have pushed my childhood favorite to the back burner. Now, I think of Tinkerbell when it comes to pirates?? Yes, yes I do! I especially think of Zarina. So, this poem will be about her.
A Guy Called Bloke and The Britchy One have asked that I tag them in on this since this was in fact their idea. 😉 Special thanks to you both for your sense of community and for nudging me to write about something that I may not have ever considered.
With a spirit of curiosity
She mixes the dust and nearly takes out their pixie dust tree
Her boss said that her mistake was too dangerous for their survival
So he dismissed her, and she leaves, only to become a rival
Her fairy friends come to look for her, to save her, and bring her home
But instead they find out that she has moved on, becoming a pirate, and creating tricks of her own
It is when she is betrayed by them there pirates, that she says sorry, and then plans to face the world all alone
She then finds that her friends and boss welcome her back even though she was wrong
Being the Disney film that it was
There is a great ending with smiles and hugs
In real life I want to say that this can also be true
God will always take us back whenever we are through
So, like Zarina, we can feel supported and secure because for us God will always be there
Even if we mess up, go astray, and do things that are unfair
In real life it is good to learn from our own mishaps
But being a true Christian means that we take it one step further, and share what we did, so that others around us can learn from our mistakes too perhaps
You can call this being a pirate if you will
Because seeing what others do wrong and learning from it, so that we do not mess up is actually a steal!
I hope that you enjoyed this poem. It is my only my 3rd one so PLEASE go easy on me. Thank-you! To make up for my bad skills in poetry… here’s a drawing! 🙂
