Taste the Nuttiness

Today’s Food Talk Wednesday will be about a funny story that happened here in our very own home. I am still giggling about it even now.

I have eaten french fries with vinegar and ketchup many times and I have enjoyed every minute of it! I have also been known to sweeten up my salads with a variety of fruits. I have even enjoyed fresh grapefruit with grilled salmon (seasoned with salt, pepper and freshly sqweezed lemon juice). With theses slightly weird food choices, I have always thought that I was a bit odd with my tastes until this happened!

On Saturday my husband made some grilled toast which we enjoyed with butter and homemade jelly. I stopped there. He, however, got weird on me when he pulled out a red onion and salty sheep cheese. The cheese is a “Romanian Thing” and I have seen it paired with so many different meal combinations but never quite like this. This was a new level of  weirdness even for him.

Our breakfast brought me funny flashbacks of Ratatouille!

Here is the link to see how to make the Ratatouille RecipeIt can, of course, be made a variety of ways with a variety of ingredient adjustments to match taste preferences. I enjoy the fact that this is healthy as well as tasty! I hope that you all like this recipe too.

What weird food combinations do you enjoy? Do others join in your enthusiasm or do they call it nutty? I am curios now because this food pairing was something funny for me!

I look forward to hearing from you and I wish any newcomers a warm welcome as well. So, please let me know what you think and join us each Wednesday for Food Talk.

Christy 🙂

I got boldly experimental one time and grilled some fish with some vegetables. I put radishes in the mix and apparently the smell of it was ghastly lol.. to say the least.. my wife still picks on me about it. I at least should get an A for effort lol!! Lessons learned.. 😒

We love that movie, so funny! I don’t really have any weird food combos anymore. I eat a lot of free range bison from South Dakota and brown rice noodles now because of Celiac. I used to love Mexican food with green chile and my favorite was cheeseburgers and fries. I’m hungry now! 🙂 God bless!

Back when I could still eat eggs, my favorite was based on grilled cheese: butter one side of each of two slices of bread, place one, buttered side down, in hot fry pan and put on a slab of cheese; top that with tuna (mixed with mayo and chopped pickles); spread the INSIDE of the top slice thickly with cream cheese; top the tuna with a fried egg; put the top lid on, flip, and grill to perfection. Yumm-o!

Not sure I have a crazy food combination but I do like pickled herring. My Nana got me hooked since the moment I could chew food. My husband and kids think its gross though. Wait, I do have a weird food combination, it’s mac-n-cheese with Ketchup. I don’t do it often though, because mac-n-cheese is more of a confort food and I am trying to eat healthy fruits and veggies of course.

I have enjoyed Mac-n-cheese with Ketchup too, that’s a good one. 😋Not sure I would like pickled herring though so I would join your family in that case. 😁 Healthy eating is the best way. Thank you. 😊
